Educators do it all: teach, nurture, coach, support, innovate—all during a pandemic! Unruly Studios is proud to recognize a few educators from our incredible community for their efforts in bringing STEM, fun, and play into their classrooms and schools.
This year we had 39 nominees competing in six categories. After almost 600 votes were tallied, we celebrated the winners live on Twitter! In case you missed it, here’s the recap:
During The Get Active Coding Challenge, Angela’s school—Academy Adventures Midtown—needed replacement Splats (way to stomp!!!) so they shifted their focus to code blocks and won 1st place! Not to mention Academy Adventures took home first place in Go Bananas! as well. For a school of only 35 students, Angela and her students have certainly shown us a tremendous amount of resiliency!
Christine is always interacting in the forum, sharing her school’s Unruly experiences, and trying out new activities. She even created some cards to go along with a forum game: Pet Pandemonium! Go, Christine! 🎉
Angela is always up for a challenge! She led her school to victory during the Go Bananas! back-to-school coding competition with a total of 163,425 yellow-lit stomps. Not only that, but she’s always finding ways to work Splats into classroom routines and lessons, such as her Pete the Cat interactive read aloud (definitely check it out)!
Please give a 👏 round 👏 of 👏 applause 👏 to the reigning PE champ, Kevin Napier! This is Kevin’s second time winning the Unruliest PE teacher award!
Kevin is a PE Teacher at Nuckols Farm Elementary School. One of his favorite ways to use Splats is during stations in order to encourage engagement from all his students. Great hustle, Kevin!
Veronica has been working with the Unruly team and her staff to create math activities for a flipped classroom idea! She worked with our Customer Success team to build multiple math games that resulted in increased student engagement!
Nancy started her Splats membership with a bang! She is finding lots of different ways to integrate them into her lessons and share them with other educators around her school. She’s building great routines with Splats and her students are always asking to use them more!
